Potters Bar duo launches brand new kids coding dojo

To the delight of tech lovers in Potters Bar, a brand-new kids coding camp, Code Ninjas, is launching this weekend. The exciting new business will open its doors to children aged 5-14 helping them to learn to build robots, drones and even create apps that they can share with family and friends.

The coding studio is being launched by lifelong friends, Ardavan Ghazi and Zayn Rahman. Ardavan boasts years of experience in education and tutoring whilst Zayn has a background in computer science and has been working in IT for the past seven years, making them the perfect pair to provide coding skills to the children of Potters Bar.

Ardavan said, “Coding has been around for years but has become more mainstream since children have had more access to technology. We want to help children in Potters Bar catch up to coding and are proud to launch our coding studio, just a few miles down the road from our neighbours at Code Ninjas in Welwyn Garden City. Like them, we’re delivering an easy-to-learn, fun and accessible way for children to enjoy coding. I’m really looking forward to opening the studio and greeting budding ninjas!

“We’ve been teaching children how to build their own video games through online sessions over the course of the pandemic, but we can’t wait to finally officially open the studio doors and see everyone in person. Ninjas - the name we give our students - can work through the modules at their own pace and will be able to develop their communication and problem-solving skills. Coding is the future and the skills children learn here will help them later in life.”

Code Ninjas is all about learning through fun which means they like to do things a little differently! Ninjas work through a colour-coded programme to earn wristbands - or belts - just like in martial arts. The teachers are called Code Senseis, and the studio is called the dojo. Ninjas can complete the curriculum at their own pace and will be supported by the Senseis every step of the way. By the end of the programme, ninjas will have developed a game or an app of their own, which will be available to download via the app store.

Zayn said, “I have spent a lot of my life studying coding, so I understand the cognitive benefits that it has on children when they learn it at an early age. Kids love technology and are always spending time on their different devices, so why not make that time more productive? We’re looking forward to getting the ninjas into the studio and giving them the best experience possible.”

Ninjas can attend up to two sessions a week and can do them at times that are convenient to the whole family. This means you don’t have to participate in sessions on the same day and time every week. The team will also offer coding camps over the school holidays from Monday to Friday. There will also be birthday parties and ‘Parents’ Night Out’ events available.

“We’ve made sure the studio is in line with all the social distancing measures to keep our ninjas, parents and Senseis safe. We want families to know Code Ninjas is a welcoming space where kids with a love of gaming can feel comfortable.”

The grand opening party for Code Ninjas is from 12pm – 4pm on Saturday 10th July. To register your place or find out more about signing your child up for the Code Ninjas programme, visit: www.codeninjas.co.uk/potters-bar-hrt-uk
