Compare Fibre research warns about misleading broadband comparison results

New research from Compare Fibre warns broadband deals can be 20 times faster and less than half the price than those on offer from the leading price comparison sites. Our research results, covering millions of postcodes, shows broadband comparison sites provide limited choices and are omitting results from many of the Altnets.
This means broadband users could be paying as much as £300 a year more for services that are barely 1/20 of the speed available. The leading price comparison sites are pushing broadband deals they get paid on rather than offering the best value for consumers.
Altnet stands for 'alternative network'. Altnets are not reliant on Openreach to deliver physical broadband infrastructure; they have agile full-fibre infrastructure and innovative high-speed products. Altnet providers' omission from search results is particularly worrying, as the research shows a clear correlation between high-value broadband services and Altnets.
