Karen Bach appointed Chairman of technology development firm Consult Red

Formerly known as Red Embedded, Consult Red grows by over 15% in the last six months

Consult Red has appointed Karen Bach, an experienced Chairman and non-executive director in the technology and media industry, as its Chairman. The news comes at the end of a strong year of growth for the technology consultancy that works with many of the world’s leading media operators including Liberty Global, Comcast (Sky) and AT&T,

Robust growth through the pandemic

In the last six months, Consult Red has grown its team by 34 people to over 190 strong across three offices in the UK, Poland and the US. It has also invested in new offices in California from where its team support US-based clients. This investment in both people and premises is central to Consult Red’s development of its service offer across the media delivery and connectivity platform.

Strategy to deliver connected products

Over the last 15 years, Consult Red (formerly known as Red Embedded Consulting) has built a strong reputation in the media sector, and digital media technology developed by Consult Red is currently deployed in more than 30 million homes around the world. They have an enviable track record of working with clients to bring new technologies to market:

Consult Red was recognised by Liberty Global and awarded 'Best Product and Service Quality' for contributions to Liberty’s Horizon 4 platform, a market-leading RDK-based STB.

Most recently Consult Red helped Skyworth deliver their first RDK product and are now working with other silicon vendors who will soon be revealed in product launches.

Consult Red worked with Google to analyse the TCO benefits of Android TV compared to legacy middlewares in an insightful report.

Increasingly Consult Red are helping their clients expand their offer using their experience in ‘smart’ and secure IoT product and system development gained from a wide range of markets.

Experience in tech and media to deliver growth

Karen is an experienced chairman and non-exec director with 30 years of experience working in scale-up and blue-chip technology, media and telecoms (TMT) companies.

Karen is a member of the 30% Club which supports boards to appoint more female directors and increase the pipeline of upcoming female talent. She is currently chairman of Amino Technologies Plc (media tech) and non-exec director of Datapharm Ltd (health-tech) and Escape Hunt Plc (escape rooms).

Before joining Consult Red, Karen was an executive director of growing international businesses serving as CFO for IXEurope Plc (datacentres), ACS Plc (health-tech) and Kewill Plc (logistics tech). Karen trained initially with blue-chip multi-nationals including EDS France and MCI WorldCom.
