Mumpreneur Who Started Baby Shoes Business from Living Room is Finalist for Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year 2020

Helen Chapman, founder of Dotty Fish, a company selling quality affordable soft leather baby shoes online has been shortlisted from over 260 entrants as a finalist in the Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year South East Region. This award recognises the growth the business has achieved from starting on Helen’s living room floor to being a market leader in soft sole leather baby shoes exporting worldwide.

“Winning this award would be amazing, Dotty Fish is a real team effort and we would all be so excited! I would love for other mum’s to be inspired by the Dotty Fish story and to see what is possible with determination and a desire to improve… with eCommerce there are no limits only the ones you set yourself!” said Helen when asked about what winning would mean to her.

Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said: “Given what we’ve seen over the past few months, the 2020 edition of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is arguably the most important. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that we celebrate the achievements of the country’s entrepreneurs and their determination in the face of such adversity.”

Founded in 2013, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the United Kingdom. The Awards have celebrated some outstanding entrepreneurs who have gone on to become household names. Previous winners include the founders of BrewDog, Tangle Teezer, The LAD Bible, Clearscore & The Cambridge Satchel Company.

Judges of the awards include Hayley Parsons, who founded Go Compare, Cath Kidston, Lord Bilimoria of Cobra Beer and Kanya King, the founder of the MOBO awards.

This year, with face to face events challenging, the regional heats will be celebrated online on September 23rd and the Dotty Fish team will be eagerly awaiting the results after a demanding few month.

Dotty Fish is committed to designing quality soft leather baby shoes that children love, and parents can afford. Established 14 years ago from our MD’s living room floor Dotty Fish has grown to a successful international online retail business with an annual turnover of over £1million. We have offices in Farnborough employing 11 staff and ship our lovely leather baby shoes all over the world. All Dotty Fish baby and toddler shoes are designed in England and made with the growing little feet they protect in mind. We use baby safe leather that is sample tested using REACH Annex XVII guidelines and are also members of Eurofins / BLC, a leading leather testing centre in England. Dotty Fish teamed up with The London Podiatry Centre using their cutting-edge gait analysis equipment and specialised knowledge of paediatric podiatry. The overwhelmingly positive results of this testing reinforced our belief in the benefits of wearing a less structured shoe in the early years. We used this research to further develop our offering and now have a ‘next-stage’ shoe with a rubber sole for toddlers who are venturing outside.
