Stagecoach reflects as the sun sets on another fantastic summer

Stagecoach Performing Arts are bringing another jam-packed summer to a close, as students from around the world came together to put on a professional performance of The Sound of Music. With students from 76 schools collaborating to perform for friends, family and franchisees, this was just one of the plethora of events available to the network through the Stagecoach in-house events programme.

“Stagecoach is known for the once-in-a-lifetime performance opportunities we offer our students,” explained Fleur Manuel, Events Manager at Stagecoach. “We pride ourselves on maintaining this standard, so each year the plans get bigger and better. We’ve just celebrated perhaps the most impressive summer showcase performance to date, with students travelling from schools as far as Spain and Malta to take part. The feedback from parents was incredible, which drives them to sign their children up, term after term. Our franchise network finds this level of support invaluable.”

The annual summer showcase allows for students to take part in a professional-standard performance, spending two weeks rehearsing whilst boarding with other students. This endeavour is completely managed and orchestrated by the Stagecoach events team, allowing for franchisees to concentrate on their summer term.

One of the most renowned events in the Stagecoach calendar is the opportunity for students to perform as part of the pre-parade at Disneyland Paris. Working closely with Travelbound, the UK’s leading educational tour operator, all of the logistical planning, relevant insurances and arrangements are made on the franchisees behalf.

“Basically, we do all of the hard work, meaning franchisees can get on with the task in hand – getting their students excited for a trip to Disneyland! A whopping 650 students performed as part of the pre-parade this year, with 28 franchisees and over 1,000 parents chaperoning the event. We make the process seamless for our franchisees that they often make the trip every other year. This really improves retention as our students get a taste of the incredible opportunities available through Stagecoach,” continued Fleur.

Now that Stagecoach has established a professional working relationship with Disney, the two brands have collaborated to offer incredible opportunities for older students. The 16+ year olds enrolled on the Further Stages programme are offered the chance to spend time shadowing the park’s famous cast members and learning all there is to know about working for Disney. Both Stagecoach and Disney feel passionately about fostering the talent of the future, establishing the Behind the Magic programme in 2018.

One such franchisee who has taken full advantage of the events opportunities available to her through the Stagecoach events team is Sandra Mayo, who joined the Stagecoach franchise network in 2012.

“This year alone, my students have performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End, at the Disney pre-parade and we’ve been invited to take part in the annual Christmas gala in London too. The variety of events available to me is really beneficial to my business and allows me to uphold the reputation Stagecoach has for offering the best opportunities to young talent. The level of support from the in-house events team is second to none.”

Before the year is out, Stagecoach will host a live performance for their students at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, a Christmas extravaganza at Cheltenham Town Hall and no fewer than four West End events, before bringing the year to an end with the annual gala and Creative Courage for Life Awards. With the guest lists already at capacity, the race is on for franchisees to register their participation in 2020’s summer activities!

With nearly 30 years’ experience in teaching the performing arts, we understand how to get the best out of our young performers. We delight in seeing our students have fun, make friends, learn new skills and discover hidden talents. We encourage them to take ‘safe risks’ through rehearsals and performance, which brings out a willingness to take on new challenges. None of us know what the future holds, which is why it’s so important for today’s children to be resilient, brave and self-assured. Furthermore you can rest assured that your child is in safe hands as we adhere to the strictest child safety policies.
