Choir is on cloud nine as legal firm pledges its support
The sound of music is a little sweeter for members of a choir who are proudly wearing a new uniform every time they perform.
The University of Cumbria’s Voces UoC group travels across the UK and delight audiences with their repertoire of songs.
While they have only been established for two years, the 18-strong ensemble is already making a name for themselves.
Now there is a real sense of togetherness among choir members, because every time they rehearse or perform, they get to wear their new polo shorts which have been sponsored by legal firm Cartmell Shepherd.

She said: “There is real pride among the choir when they are together and when they perform.
“It is wonderful that they are being recognised and it means a great deal to have the support of the community and of businesses like Cartmell Shepherd. The new polo shorts are fantastic and the choir are proud to wear them. They feel a real sense of togetherness and professionalism.
The female-only choir is made up of university students and is led by Professor Graeme Danby, who has performed at several of the world's leading opera houses, including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the English National Opera.
Many of the songs Voces perform - which range from classics to modern hits - are arranged especially for them, either by Prof Danby or Patsy Gilbert who is an external examiner at the university and also head of musical theatre at the Leeds College of Music.
The group struck a chord with Cartmells, which as a company was responsible for establishing the Cartmell Shepherd Community Choir.
Cartmells director, Deborah Flynn was one of the founding members. She said: “We know at Cartmells the joy which can come from singing, both for those performing and also those listening.
“While Voces UoC have only been together for a relatively short period of time, they have developed a fantastic reputation.
“It was our pleasure to support the choir by providing the funding for their new polo shirts. It’s amazing what a difference a new outfit can make.”
