Renewable Energy specialists join forces to launch 3Ti Energy Hubs, in response to growing demand for on-site solar energy generation and EV charging solutions

Five highly regarded Renewable Energy industry specialists have today announced the launch of 3Ti Energy Hubs; an exciting new business concept that will enable organisations to generate solar energy from carparks, coupled with integrated battery energy storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Collectively, over the past 25 years, the 3Ti team has been closely involved in the development and delivery of over 800 renewable energy projects, with an aggregate value exceeding £1 billion, and has clocked up over 100 years’ combined experience in the renewables sector, across the UK and EMEA.

3Ti was founded by seasoned Renewable Energy pioneers Tim Evans, Adam Goves and George Hall. Tim Evans becomes 3Ti’s CEO, with Adam Goves taking the role of Business Development Director and George Hall as Operations Director.

Max Aitken, best known as co-founder and CEO of London based Estover Energy, joins the business as Executive Chair, together with Alan Marshall as Finance Director.

Estover Energy, founded by Max Aitken in 2009 is the UK’s largest developer and operator of decentralised, wood fired, combined heat and power plants; with capital deployed in excess of £350m. Max is a seasoned entrepreneur and is also President of the Beaverbrook Canadian Foundation based in Montreal and a Trustee of the UK Beaverbrook Foundation.

Commenting on the launch of 3Ti, Executive Chair Max Aitken said: “Integrated solar carparks are a really exciting and innovative concept, allowing businesses to generate clean electricity from not only their own land assets but sites nearby or adjacent to their premises too; sites which otherwise have limited tangible value and are often considered an eyesore. The 3Ti solution provides an opportunity to unlock additional revenue streams from the carpark, lower energy costs and carbon emissions and with the potential to roll out EV chargers as the electric car market gains momentum. The technology that allows 3Ti to incorporate battery storage solutions and Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure on these sites is a game changer.”

In 2017, working with Guinness Asset Management , 3Ti’s founders were responsible for developing, financing, designing and delivering the UK’s largest Solar Carpark Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) facility to-date, for Bentley Motors’ manufacturing facility in Crewe, Cheshire. The impressive 2.7MWp installation covers 1,378 parking bays and has been operational since September 2018. 3Ti has subsequently been approached by Guinness Asset Management to manage the O&M contract for the site, going forward.

Speaking about the launch of 3Ti, CEO Tim Evans said: “We’ve felt for some time that there has been a need to bring an integrated solar, battery storage and EV solution to the market - in a PPA framework that will allow businesses to secure their power on long-term fixed price contracts. The 3Ti answer to the continuing shift to renewable energy and electric vehicles is to turn carparks into power stations. 3Ti’s combined approach provides secure, consistent, clean solar energy for businesses from their carparks whilst at the same time providing electric vehicle charging infrastructure for their employees, suppliers, customers and the general public.”

From its London base, 3Ti Energy Hubs works across the UK and Europe, and will be announcing its first large-scale partnership imminently, with several further announcements due in the coming months.

Tim Evans - Founder & Managing Director

With a background in agri-business management, Tim has lived and worked in Italy, Austria & Germany where he first became involved in renewable energy, producing biodiesel from oilseed rape as long ago as 1991. Now, with almost 30 years’ experience in Renewable Energy, Tim has worked throughout Central and Eastern Europe and more recently in Africa.

Tim has developed over 40 combined heat & power and gas to grid projects in Biogas and Biomass, ranging in size from 150Kw to 50MW, with a combined value approaching £500m. He also led the Innovate UK funded First of a Kind (FOAK) project, commercialising solar car parking technologies in the UK, which resulted in the installation of the UK’s largest solar carpark at Bentley Motors manufacturing facility in Cheshire.

Prior to founding 3Ti Energy Hubs with Adam Goves & George Hall, Tim managed a team pioneering the development and installation of small-scale solar power & battery storage projects, providing power for rural communities, clinics and schools in sub-Saharan Africa.

Adam Goves - Founder & Business Development Director

With a background in IT, Adam has worked in the Renewable Energy market for over 15 years. Having spent much of that time in the Solar/PV sector, Adam has an in depth understanding and hands on experience of the Solar Carport & EV Charging Market. Over the past three years, Adam has worked closely with government and industry partners to develop the wider UK solar carport business case and has extensive commercial experience focusing on EV, V2G, battery energy storage and solar carport generation solutions.

During 2018, Adam also worked closely with Innovate UK and other industry stakeholders on the Innovate funded “Smart-Hubs” initiative; identifying the opportunities for combining solar, battery and EV charging technologies to develop the scope for the commercialisation of and investment in Vehicle to Grid projects in the UK.
