Hotel creates festive jobs boost - with new year roles available for stars who shine

A HOTEL has delivered a huge boost to the local jobs market after announcing it is to create 20 new roles over the festive period.

The boost will ensure the existing team at the four-star Abbey House Hotel and Gardens have the support they need as they enter one of the busiest periods of the year.

And any member of the temporary staff who proves themselves to be a Christmas star may be offered a permanent role in the new year.

Hotel general manager, John Horton, said: “The hotel is already decked out in Christmas lights and finery and looks simply stunning.

“We will welcome thousands of people through the doors of the Abbey House Hotel over the next eight weeks as they celebrate the festive season with colleagues, family and friends.

“To make sure we can deliver an experience they will remember for many years to come, it’s essential we are staffed appropriately.

“The hunt for seasonal colleagues is always pleasurable because invariably, over the weeks and months which follow, some of them will rise to the top and be given the opportunity to continue to work with us when the decorations are down and the new year is upon us.”

While the interview process has started, anybody looking for work over the festive period is urged to visit the hotel’s website.

The Abbey House Hotel was recently named as the number one venue for a Christmas party in the Barrow area.

Across December it will host a number of Christmas party nights, while on Christmas Day it is fully booked for dinner.

Food will also be served in the period between Christmas and until New Year, when the party starts once again with a New Year’s Eve gala dinner.

There is still limited availability across the festive period. To book or enquire, call the hotel team on 0333 272 9516 or visit abbeyhousehotel.com
