Cumbrian Holiday Park owners launch Virtual Open Day following COVID19 pandemic

The owners of Camelot Holiday Park, near Longtown in Cumbria, are running their first Virtual Open Day on Saturday 8th August as a result of the COVID19 pandemic.

Earlier this year William and Margaret Stewart were preparing for a busy holiday season. They were looking forward to hosting an open day at the end of March to show off their luxury holiday homes to prospective customers, but unfortunately, they had to close the gates to the Holiday Park as Coronavirus swept the nation.

Since mid-March, COVID-19 triggered a near-total shutdown in international tourism to and from the UK, but as Britain prepares for the summer holidays, the Camelot Holiday Park owners are hoping for a staycation boom, with many Brits choosing to holiday on domestic shores this year.

According to Visit Britain, both the inbound and domestic travel industry will be seriously impacted by the pandemic, with domestic travel alone seeing a decline of 48% for both overnights and leisure day trips. However, since the reopening of the hospitality sector in England from 4 July, holiday bookings across the UK are reported to have risen significantly showing a demand for a post-lockdown break with people choosing to holiday in the UK.

Upon reopening and welcoming guests back on site, the couple has taken measures to ensure the safety of their homeowners and visitors by implementing a COVID19 risk assessment and being granted the ‘Good to Go’ certificate from Visit England.

However, the pandemic has hit the whole economy hard and without being able to run an open day to showcase the holiday homes they have for sale, William decided to take action and take the open day online, before his business suffered any more,

William commented,

“We have not been able to do anything for months, but we still wanted to show customers what we have to offer. People have been using technology and going online lots during lockdown, so we decided that as we can’t have people visiting the site for an open day, we’d take the open day to them. We understand people are still a bit wary about venturing out and about, or may live quite a distance from the holiday park, so the virtual open day gives them a fantastic insight into our holiday park and the holiday homes we have on offer from the comfort of their home.”

The virtual open day, which can be accessed on the Camelot Holiday Park website will showcase virtual tours from around the holiday park, videos of the various holiday homes for sale, testimonials from home owners, a local area guide and frequently asked questions. There will also be a special offer for anyone who signs up and at a later date a VIP face to face private appointment, adhering to government guidelines.

The virtual open day will take place on Saturday 8th August from 9am and can be accessed via registering on the the Camelot Holiday Park website www.camelotholidyapark.co.uk
