When Appoint Us was formed in 2014, it wasn't about making money it was about Making A Difference.
Now some 5 years on, we are still proud to be making a difference and recognised for it. The business has been a journey with many twists and turns and we have not been averse to diversity from our original business plan.
We are honoured and delighted to have been selected as finalists for the National SME Awards as Community Business of the Year. We are all looking forward to attending the finals down in Wembley on 6th December and naturally hope to win, but being finalists is such an achievement for a relatively small and rurally based CIC. We wish all other finalists the best of luck. We have previously won and been finalists of locally based awards but are so proud to have made it in to the finals of something national. To win would be such an accolade for the whole staff team.
Appoint Us provide services to enhance peoples lives and to promote independence. We do not have boxes for people, so our services can be accessed by and age, gender and with or without a disability.
Our Support Team provide services such as 1:1 companionship, supporting with hobbies and interests, supporting healthy home-cooked meals, encouraging client participation, reintegration into the community, support with attending appointments, sitting services to enable family or carers to take a well-earned break - in fact, anything other than providing personal care services.
We have a Therapeutic team that provide services either 1;1 or in groups. The creative team deliver services through dance, music, singing, percussion, crafts, arts etc and the Pet Team take a variety of animals including dogs and ponies to visit people some of whom have never had the experience of a live animal before.
Therapeutic Services offer an imaginative and holistic approach that can unlock and engage people in order to improve their well being and self-esteem. This can help with communication, relaxation and socialisation.
We also offer services such as general and Child Protection Advocacy, Appointeeship, Welfare reviews and Capacity assessments, Funeral planning, Appropriate Adult Services, Benefit checks and workshops - in fact, most things other than personal care.
Our mission of "Making a Difference" extends to us providing carer events, recognising and rewarding nursing staff, providing support to Warwickshire Pride, providing activities to Dementia groups and even planning and funding a wedding for two former clients.
Our service currently exists with no external funding whatsoever, covers the geographic Coventry Warwickshire and surrounding areas and receives most referrals through recommendation.
