MP HAS THE RIGHT REACTION TO CHEMICAL COMPANY
MP Julian Smith heralded Airedale Chemical as an example of a thriving family business following a visit on 23 October.
Visiting the Keighley-based manufacturer and distributer of chemicals, Mr Smith was “very impressed” with the business and its recent international recognition for its environmental work.
“What an impressive local company, which after three generations, has adapted and set its sights on an international market while keeping true to its local root. “It was fantastic to visit such a high growth manufacturing business in my constituency. I was impressed by the range of products and markets that Airedale Chemical is involved with and I hope that their recent rapid growth can continue in the years to come.” said Mr Smith.
Mr Smith visited the site after the news that Airedale Chemical has won an award in the Environmental Best Practice category of The Green Apple Awards, to be presented in a ceremony on 16 November at the House of Commons, for its commitment to sending zero waste to landfill.
On Friday, the Airedale team welcomed Mr Smith on-site and after an introduction to Airedale Chemical and sister company Airedale Solutions, Mr Smith was accompanied through the labs and warehouse.
Chris Chadwick, sales director of Airedale Chemical, explains: “It has been fantastic to tell Mr Smith the story behind the scenes of our business. It may be a surprise to the town that we have such a rich industrial history and as part of our commitment to community relations we want to improve our links with the town we operate and employ from.
“We have been a local employer in Keighley and Cross Hills for over 40 years and now is the right time to show the community that we have a business for the area to be proud of.”
