World Religion Day - The Abrahamic Reunion – Sunday 20th January

Abrahamic Reunion England is delighted to announce that they will be marking the upcoming World Religion Day on Sunday 20th January by promoting the work of their official radio station, Sacred Music Radio.

The gesture is designed to encourage unity and understanding between all of the world's major religious faiths.

This annual event was started by American members of the Baha'i faith in 1950 to celebrate the ‘oneness’ of religion, which shows how there is common ground from one belief to the next for the good of religious harmony, and they believe that, by listening to music from other faith backgrounds, one can develop a better understanding of them.

Michael Kenton is the founder of Sacred Music Radio, and he certainly believes that it can. He said, "The sheer beauty of sacred and spiritual music means that it has the unique ability to cross many borders, religions and cultures, and it can speak louder than a thousand words."

"It is one of the most powerful human creations of expression, and one which can touch the hearts of listeners across the globe, regardless of their circumstances."

"Sacred music speaks to the hearts and minds of the listeners, and enables them to connect with each other at a higher spiritual level better than any conversation could hope to achieve."

"Spiritual and relaxation music has been proven to help slow pulse and heart rate, lower blood pressure and decrease stress hormones. It can also provide a well-needed distraction to help calm the mind in times of stress, anger or tension, and enables listeners to take a step back from the world around them, refocus, re-balance, and come back feeling revived and refreshed."

"There are two famous quotes that everyone should really identify with on World Religion Day. The composer Ludwig van Beethoven said, 'Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.'

Also, the great teacher Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan remarked, 'Music is the language of the soul and therefore it communicates to us something that could never be communicated in words.'"

Kenton added, "Recent research by the Schulich School of Music at the University in Montreal, Québec, indicates that people's response to music 'transcends different cultures as it emotionally affects diverse cultures in the same way.'"

Sacred Music Radio is available online at sacredmusicradio.org, with downloadable apps on the Android Play Store and iPhone App Store.
