Atelier Associates tells story of the business

Atelier Associates, the Norfolk architectural designers noted for their designs of barn and nuclear bunker conversions, has revealed some of the details behind its rise to prominence in East Anglia.

The business, which was founded by Sarah Barker-Willis and Stephen Sharp, has capitalised on the growing popularity of barn conversions across one of the largest counties in England. It has also registered an increase in demand for the conversion of nuclear bunkers over the same period. Atelier Associates has now come to be recognised for these complex projects, which are sometimes hard to secure planning permission for.

Thanks to their helpful location to take advantage of these trends, Atelier Associates has been able to carve out a regional niche which has seen it grow exponentially. The organisation now has over 50 projects on the go concurrently, operating out of a small office in a barn conversion in West Norfolk. As the barn trend continues to emerge, Atelier Associates expects that its client base will expand out of East Anglia to cover a more national area.

Sarah Barker-Willis, co-owner of Atelier Associates, said: "At Atelier Associates, we have always prided ourselves on great design and excellent planning. These two facets of our service offering are absolutely essential when it comes to the tricky developments which we typically work on. We are proud to have built a reputation as the go-to architectural designers for barn conversions, new builds and bunker conversions, and see no reason why we shouldn't expand out of East Anglia to further afield. With so many property projects on the go, our client base is a testament to the expertise and work ethic of our valued team."
