Bucks 18-year-old’s vegan app shortlisted for national award recognising entrepreneurial achievement

Ayush Sanghavi, a student from Beaconsfield, has been shortlisted from a long list of nominations for the Health & Wellbeing category in the South East at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards. The nomination, his second in two years, recognises his success with Veggie Alternatives, an app which provides users with branded vegan and vegetarian substitutes.

Since being independently founded in 2016 – when Sanghavi was just 14, Veggie Alternatives has reached over 20,000 downloads and was featured on The One Show in 2019. Due to study Law at Cambridge University this autumn, Sanghavi hopes to continue expanding his app in the future.

Founded in 2013, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the United Kingdom.

The Awards have celebrated some outstanding entrepreneurs who have gone on to become household names. Previous winners include the founders of BrewDog, Tangle Teezer, The LAD Bible, Clearscore & The Cambridge Satchel Company.

Speaking of the awards, Sanghavi said, “I couldn’t be happier to receive my second Great British Entrepreneur Awards nomination. It’s great recognition of the years of work I’ve put in and I’m really excited about the opportunities it’ll bring.”

Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said: “Given what we’ve seen over the past few months, the 2020 edition of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is arguably the most important. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that we celebrate the achievements of the country’s entrepreneurs and their determination in the face of such adversity.

“I want to send my congratulations to each and every single entrepreneur who has made it to the shortlist this year, and I wish them the very best of luck for the regional finals.”
