Hampshire family business in line for national award recognising leadership and excellence

One of Hampshire’s favourite food businesses, Bubble& has been shortlisted from a long list of nominations, for the Family Business Entrepreneur of the Year category at the 2020 Great British Entrepreneur Awards for the South East region. Their success recognises entrepreneurs leading and excelling within a family business.

Founded in 2013, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the United Kingdom.

The Awards have celebrated some outstanding entrepreneurs who have gone on to become household names. Previous winners include the founders of BrewDog, Tangle Teezer, The LAD Bible, Clearscore & The Cambridge Satchel Company.

Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said: “Given what we’ve seen over the past few months, the 2020 edition of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is arguably the most important. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that we celebrate the achievements of the country’s entrepreneurs and their determination in the face of such adversity."

Bubble& is an award-winning food business known for their reinvention of the English classic 'bubble & squeak'.

Founded in 2013, husband and wife team Rupert Smith and Marita Lietz began selling their food on street food markets in Hampshire and London. They went on to star on BBC2’s Million Pound Menu, where they secured a residency deal with twice Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar.

Bubble& co-founder Marita Lietz, said: "Running a business as a husband and wife team has its unique challenges, and we are over the moon to have been recognised in the Family Business Entrepreneur of the Year category at this year's Great British Entrepreneur Awards."

Judges of the awards include Hayley Parsons, who founded Go Compare, Cath Kidston, Lord Bilimoria of Cobra Beer and Kanya King, the founder of the MOBO awards.

This year, with face to face events challenging, the regional heats will be celebrated online on September 23rd.
