Expedia Group's day of caring created 'travelling with or post cancer' FAQ page
Expedia Group, the global travel platform asked Cancer Central to get involved in its annual Day of Caring. Now in its 10th year, Day of Caring aims to help as many local communities as possible and encourages all Expedia Group employees to spend a day in September volunteering for one of their chosen organisations.
The Travelling with or Post cancer FAQ page was the brainchild of Michael Long, Senior Manager, Online Marketing, Expedia Group. “In 2019 I co-hosted a live stream event with Avril (founder of Cancer Central) on what it’s like to travel post cancer diagnosis. Reflecting on the feedback we received, I really wanted Expedia Group to be able to help anyone travelling with cancer or with someone who has cancer. People plan trips for various reasons and the aim of the project was to give everyone the confidence to travel. I hope this page does just that."
Avril Chester, the founder of Cancer Central, “I’m so excited and proud to say that Expedia Group’s Day of Caring worked with Cancer Central this year. We have created a FAQ page on Expedia.co.uk, for those travelling with or post-cancer, or with a loved one who has been or is affected by cancer.”
“Our mission is to help people affected by cancer to find the support and information they need. I am very grateful to Michael and Expedia Group for allowing us to help in such a way”, said Chester.
The questions featured in the FAQ page were compiled from a request on Cancer Central’s social media asking people to submit their travel questions. Both organisations hope this page will support thousands of travellers during or after a difficult time.
