CareGiven - New not-for-profit campaign launches to provide urgently needed PPE to the front line

Launching on April 30th, CareGiven is a not for profit fundraising organisation aimed at getting as many PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) masks to the front line NHS and key workers as soon as possible to help them in the fight against COVID-19.

Members of the public can buy a range of unique products, such as car and window stickers and flags to show their support for NHS and health workers and the proceeds are converted directly into PPE then donated for free. Every pound spent buys two masks. Customers will receive their CareGiven products straight to their door with shipping beginning on May 11th. 100% of funds raised goes towards PPE. CareGiven has established a dedicated supply chain that can deliver up to 300,000 masks a day across the UK – making a vital difference to those on the frontline fighting the COVID-19 virus.

Musician and activist Peter Gabriel says; “ With over one hundred health workers who have lost their lives with Coronavirus, it has been shocking to see all the brave men and women of the NHS going to work without a guarantee of proper protective PPE . Therefore I am very happy to support Caregiven, which has been set up specifically to fundraise for this vital PPE .”

Irish International Footballer, Shay Given says:’ I’m really proud to be a part of CareGiven, 100% of the money raised will go directly to protect the people working on the front line in the UK and Ireland, getting them the PPE they so urgently need. If like me you have been watching the reports and wondering what you can do to help, please get behind this fast and effective cause and give whatever you can so we can help them, help us.”

These celebrities are lending their support to the campaign and members of the public can too! CareGiven is encouraging everyone to share pictures of their merchandise on display in their homes and cars using the hashtag #showyourcolours tell their friends and family and donate as generously as they can.

CareGiven campaign organiser Rob Noble explains, “Watching the situation unfold around the shortage of PPE I wanted to make good use of my contacts and the skills of the people I work with in order to show our support and also be of practical help. CareGiven is both a great way to mobilise public support for NHS staff and key workers and turn that directly into the equipment they need right now.”

Working in collaboration with Frontline, a new crowd-sourced online map that shows live information on where hotspots of shortages of PPE means that CareGiven ensures masks are reaching those most in need. Data is being added in real time by NHS hospitals, care homes, other organisations and critical workers. One-off and larger cash donations can be made and converted to PPE to be sent to organisations identified by Frontline where the need is greatest, based on their heat map. Built to give healthcare and key workers a quick and easy platform to communicate what PPE they need, and where they need it, Frontline received requests for 536 pieces of PPE from 146 healthcare workers within eight days.

Support CareGiven to donate or buy products that will make a much needed difference working to tackle COVID-19 and provide vital protection to those working on the front line.
