Local home care provider puts CIW pass down to teamwork

A local home care provider, who offer quality, specialist care to residents throughout Cardiff and the Vale, is celebrating after having recently passed their latest CIW inspection. Sharan Dhaliwal, Managing Director of Caremark Cardiff & The Vale of Glamorgan, was delighted with the results following their second annual inspection by the Care Inspectorate Wales.

During the unannounced visit on Thursday 31st May, the inspector noted that Caremark Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan were providing acceptable standard care across three key areas – quality of life, quality of staffing and quality of leadership and management.

The report, published earlier this month, said: “People can be confident that their needs are understood, recorded, monitored and responded to appropriately. We spoke with relatives of people using the service who told us that they were happy with the service being received. One person told us that ‘the carers are marvellous’. People can be assured that they will receive a quality service that enhances their wellbeing.”

Caremark specialises in quality domiciliary care for their clients, putting emphasis on high-quality training for carers and staff.

The Inspector also noted that: “People can be confident that they are supported by staff who are kind, caring and respectful. People benefit from a service which is managed effectively, with systems in place to ensure that needs of people are met appropriately. We conclude that people benefit from the leadership and management at Caremark and can be confident that the service is monitored regularly and continually looking to improve.”

Sharan, along with her Care Manager, Zinia Johns and the team of office staff and care workers put significant policies and procedures in place to assure compliance across the board. Sharan was delighted with the result and is proud to work with individuals who are so devoted to their hundreds of local clients.

“This rating is testament to the incredible team and the hard work they put in every day. This truly was a group effort, and something we’re proud to celebrate together. By putting our clients’ needs at the forefront of our business, we’ve built a compassionate culture which helps to maintain a high standard of care.”

About Caremark

Caremark is the UK's largest privately owned care franchise with a turnover of £65m. We are a leading home care provider with over 100 offices in the UK and Ireland. We support over 6000 customers and employ more than 5400 carers who deliver on average, over 96,000 hours of care, every single week, across the UK. Established in 2005, we are proud to be a wholly UK owned and operated home care franchise which has an established and successful UK based network. 43% of Caremark franchisees are female, which is almost double the national franchising average. It's a figure we are really proud of. Not only that, but a large proportion of our management team are women, including our Managing Director, Finance Director, National Operations Manager and National Training Manager. The UK has an ageing population which is estimated to grow some 58% in the next 20 years. As the demand for more complex and highly professional levels of care increases, we continue to provide a quality service to those in need of help and support. There is also a developing awareness that care at home can benefit not only those individuals in need but the hospitals and other organisations that are also responsible for looking after them.
