Local home care provider rated “Good” in recent CQC inspection
An in-home care provider, based in South West London, has been given a GOOD rating following a recent CQC inspection. Abdi Issa, Managing Director of Caremark Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster, was delighted with the result.
Inspectors rated Caremark, an in-home care service who care for clients throughout Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster, “Good” across the board – in safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership.
The report, published on the 20th October, said, “The service was caring. People told us they were treated with kindness by care workers. People’s independence was promoted. Plans were clear about what aspects of care people could do for themselves and how care workers could carry out care in a way which supported this.”
The inspector also noted that, “People told us they felt well supported by their care workers. One person told us, ‘They certainly are giving good care; they're extremely nice people.’ Records of care showed that people consistently received support from the same person, with another person available to cover when the main care workers were off. People's support plans included clear information on their living situation and what they enjoyed.”
This was the first report carried out on Caremark Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster by the Care Quality Commission since Abdi and his daughter, Fathia, launched the business in December 2016.
Former UN humanitarian and international civil servant, Abdi, has always worked in a caring capacity and, through relief work in some of the most underprivileged parts of the world, has changed hundreds of lives. Following in her father’s footsteps, Fathia earned a master’s degree in human rights before mentoring women and children across South Africa, promoting the importance of care, support and education. She now volunteers at an independent non-governmental organisation that advocates human rights and has recently registered as a Dementia Friends Champion.
Fathia, registered Care Manager, is proud to work with individuals who are so devoted to their local clients.
“This rating is a testament to our incredible team, their dedication and hard work. This truly was a group effort and something we’re proud to celebrate together. By putting our clients’ needs at the forefront of our business, we’ve built a compassionate culture which helps to maintain a high standard of care. The future looks bright for Caremark Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster, as we are looking to expand our care team and have been planning Dementia information sessions locally. Providing an excellent service and preserving the dignity and independence of our clients remains our highest priority.”
