Much loved local care worker is celebrated for her commitment to clients

64-year-old Linda Devine has been caring for the elderly and vulnerable residents of Hillingdon since 1997, a job she absolutely adores. In fact, she loves being a care worker so much, Linda says she feels lucky to be able to call it a job! For her selfless commitment to her clients and her kindness to others, Linda, who lives locally with her family, has just been named ‘Care Worker of the Month’, by Caremark Hillingdon.

Linda has worked with Caremark Hillingdon for four years and has recently decided to delay her retirement for another year so that she can continue working with the team of office staff, care workers and service users.

“Everyone at Caremark Hillingdon absolutely adores Linda; I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about her. The incredible work she does with her clients doesn’t go unnoticed. She treats her regulars like friends and makes them feel so at ease. Honouring Linda in this way was a no-brainer really, she does so much for others and she’s just an all-round, lovely person. It isn’t just her clients she looks out for, she’s also a great mentor for the younger carers and the team just can’t help but smile when Linda’s around, “explained Christina McFadden, Care Manager at Caremark Hillingdon.

Linda, who has 20 years of experience in the health and social care sector, was thrilled to have been awarded earlier this month. The well deserving Grandmother has also been a registered foster carer in Hillingdon since 1999, fostering 30 children over the years.

Abhay Shah, Managing Director of Caremark Hillingdon, also took the time to congratulate Linda for her hard work:

“Linda is a trusted, reliable, responsible and a much loved member of the Caremark Hillingdon team. I regularly hear great feedback from both clients and staff members about Linda. She is always smiling and lights up the room when she enters. She definitely deserves the award. Well done Linda!”

To thank Linda for her incredible commitment and hard work, Christina and the office team surprised her with a winner’s prize of a £50 Marks & Spencer gift voucher – and she already has an idea of what she might treat herself to!

“I was over the moon when Chris and the team told me I’d won. It was lovely to feel so appreciated and hear everyone’s kind works about me. It’s always nice to hear the work you’re doing is valued and to get a pat on the back. Thank you to the Caremark Hillingdon team for my prize – it’s our work Christmas do next month and I’m looking forward to treating myself to a new outfit! I’m lucky to work with such happy and friendly people – that’s what makes being a care worker so rewarding.”

About Caremark

Caremark is the UK's largest privately owned care franchise with a turnover of £65m. We are a leading home care provider with over 100 offices in the UK and Ireland. We support over 6000 customers and employ more than 5400 carers who deliver on average, over 96,000 hours of care, every single week, across the UK. Established in 2005, we are proud to be a wholly UK owned and operated home care franchise which has an established and successful UK based network. 43% of Caremark franchisees are female, which is almost double the national franchising average. It's a figure we are really proud of. Not only that, but a large proportion of our management team are women, including our Managing Director, Finance Director, National Operations Manager and National Training Manager. The UK has an ageing population which is estimated to grow some 58% in the next 20 years. As the demand for more complex and highly professional levels of care increases, we continue to provide a quality service to those in need of help and support. There is also a developing awareness that care at home can benefit not only those individuals in need but the hospitals and other organisations that are also responsible for looking after them.
