Care Safe Mobility service launches to help ease burden on NHS ambulances

Care Safe Mobility has today launched a new patient transportation service to help ease the burden on NHS ambulances during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

As A&E waiting times and the number of patients waiting after discharge continue to rise, the new service has been developed to help the NHS think outside of the box when it comes to managing patient transportation.

With many NHS services stretched to their limit as they deal with rising Omicron cases and many other pressures, Care Safe Mobility wants to help reduce the number of people waiting for hours to be discharged due to hospital bed rotation, or suffering due to ambulance non-arrival. Elderly people, people with wheelchairs, chemotherapy and dialysis patients are all at risk if they can’t get to hospital or back to their home or care home swiftly.

Rather than relying on NHS ambulance services, healthcare providers can now use Care Safe Mobility for patient and disabled transportation. It bridges the gap between taxi and ambulance services, with specialised or adapted vehicles, including stretcher vehicles, and medically trained drivers to meet every need and offer primary healthcare support, including oxygen administration, whether going to or from hospital. This reduces the demand for ambulances while ensuring patients can get to where they need to be swiftly and safely.

The service comes complete with the latest technology for reassurance, such as live streaming of the journey, including the road conditions, and remote medical monitoring. The service can collect discharged hospital patients within 30 to 45 minutes, at just 30% of the cost of an ambulance.

Samit Biswas, Founder and CEO of Care Safe Mobility, said: “We are happy to launch the Care Safe Mobility service. This is the only service model that can help our NHS to manage the current ambulance demand and keep the ambulances free to attend more A&E calls. It can also offer faster bed rotation by taking discharge patients within 45 minutes after the discharge from the hospital.”

This is the model now they are using in Canada and USA also adapting it soon.
