Morpeth business in line for national award recognising five star family business and food and drink excellence
One of Morpeth’s favourite Coffee Roasters, Caribe Coffee Company has been shortlisted from a long list of nominations, for the Food & Drink Entrepreneur of the Year AND the Family Business categories in the Regional Finals of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards. Their success recognises the hard work of Wilmer and Elle Carcamo who returned to the UK after receiving a life changing diagnosis of a rare genetic illness that their little boy suffers from. Unable to find suitable work Wilmer, whose descendants are coffee farmers, decided to start importing specialty grade green coffee and set up a local Roastery with online retail and wholesale presence. Wilmer and Elle are both passionate about excellent quality coffee but also strive to be be 100% sustainable with respect to supporting the farmers in Honduras as well as reducing waste here in the UK.
Founded in 2013, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards acknowledges the hard work and inspiring stories of entrepreneurs and businesses in the United Kingdom. The Awards have celebrated some outstanding entrepreneurs who have gone on to become household names.Previous winners include the founders of BrewDog, Tangle Teezer, The LAD Bible, Clearscore & The Cambridge Satchel Company.
Judges of the awards include Hayley Parsons, who founded Go Compare, Cath Kidston, Lord Bilimoria of Cobra Beer and Kanya King, the founder of the MOBO awards.

This year, with face to face events challenging, the regional heats will be celebrated online on September 23rd.
