Take a sneak peek inside Pinner's very own kids coding dojo!

Pinner's first kids coding dojo has opened! On Saturday the 5th of September, four local dads, Prasad Prabhakaran, Srinivasa Rao, Sridhar Bhat and Sharath Iyer, launched Pinner's first Code Ninjas centre.

Code Ninjas opened its doors in the heart of our community, on Bridge Street, to crowds of budding young ninjas. Amongst the excited ninjas and their parents were a few noticeable faces, one being Lord Rami Ranger CBE.

Lord Rami Ranger CBE said, "It's a great honour to be asked to open Code Ninjas Pinner. The programme specialises in improving thinking skills of the children using coding and game building. It's a must for children to attend to build their ability to think beyond the obvious."

With famous billionaires, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk and Bill Gates all taking part in computer programming at young ages, it's hard to disagree with Lord Rami Ranger on the benefits a coding centre like Code Ninjas could have on a child.

One of Code Ninjas Pinner's owners, Prasad Prabhakaran, said, "We had a fantastic Grand opening day on Saturday. It was great to see so much enthusiasm from our new ninjas as they arrived. Code Ninjas is not just fun, but also very educational, which is vital after so much missed education these past few months."

Seventy-plus families visited, with over 100 children engaged in games and quizzes at the grand opening day. Also in attendance was Councillor Norman Stevenson, "Coding is a must-have skill for the future. It helps children to think critically and solve problems. I’m excited this is happening in Pinner high street.

"The Centre looks world class, professional and has all safety measures you would expect during the pandemic. I sincerely wish good luck to all the parents, staff and students of Code Ninjas Pinner."

The curriculum that Prasad, Srinivasa, Sridhar and Sharath will be delivering is all built around two fundamental values:

1. To teach children to think and solve STEM problems using coding

2. To provide parents with a convenient service.

One person who experienced these values first hand was mother-of-two, Niamh McEnry. "My boys were fascinated by Code Ninjas. We had to book another session for Tuesday. Thank you so much for an excellent day to all the Code Ninjas team.”

Ninjas can attend up to two sessions a week and at the convenience the whole family – meaning you don’t have to attend sessions on the same day and time every week! The coding camps also run over school holidays from Monday to Fridays, giving that extra bit of relief to mum and dad. Code Ninjas’ sessions include CREATE, which children aged 5-14 can work through after school and on weekends, and coding camps that last for anything between one day to one week.

Code Ninjas has already had a positive effect on the community in terms of employment. A team of 10 Senseis, all studying digital technology at A Level or university, have been taken on to help teach the ninjas. The Senseis are tasked to help the kids to develop all the way to become a black-belt coder!
