'Be a mindful motorist' says D&O Motor Services following World Car Free Day
D&O Motor Services, the leading East Anglian auto repair and servicing centre, has issued some tips on how to be a more eco-friendly driver following World Car Free Day.
Drivers across the world were urged to leave their keys at home and use other forms of transport on Sunday, 22nd September, in a bid to reduce emissions and increase awareness of sustainability issues.
D&O Motor Services has pledged its support to the cause, and has used the opportunity to offer some other advice to motorists driving through the year. The company has advocated the following strategies to help to decrease the impact of cars on the environment:
- Vehicle sharing as much as possible, in order to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.
- Use public transport when it is convenient to do so, especially around Norfolk's larger town where there is more infrastructure of buses.
- Look at the possibility of using hybrid vehicle models, which are able to substantially reduce the level of emissions thanks to an electric engine.
Mike Docherty and Adam Overland, owners of D&O Motor Services, made the following statement: “Sunday’s World Car Free Day provides an apt occasion to consider how we get around, and which sustainable choices we can make in order to benefit the planet. In a large county like Norfolk, it isn't always possible to use public transport, but drivers should remember that there are many ways to ensure their existing vehicles are as fuel-efficient as possible. A regular servicing, for example, can ensure that tyres are inflated to optimum levels, which can, in turn, improve the mileage from each refill of fuel."
