Chip Shop Laughs, Getting Ready With Mates, Hitting The Dance Floor When Your Favourite Tune Drops And Laughing Till Your Sides Hurt – Research Reveals The 15 Best Things About Nights Out In Britain,

Researchers have revealed a definitive list of things we LOVE about hitting the town in the UK.

As many as 35 percent agree that the “getting ready with mates” part is just as fun as the pub or club, while 30 percent insist that late-night doner kebabs are an ESSENTIAL part of a great British evening out.

“Deep and meaningfuls” in the taxi (23 percent), everyone standing around the chip shop having a laugh (23 percent) and when you get straight into the club without having to queue (21 percent) all made the list of good night out indicators.

Feeling FAB in your new outfit (35 percent), laughing till your sides hurt (47 percent), and having a laugh with the bouncer (16 percent) all made the list, as did the walk home with your crew (20 percent) and having a decent wing man / woman (14 percent).

The study also revealed Brits will try on at least three outfits before deciding on 'the one', will take 11 photos or videos during a night out and will post on social media at least four times.

Overall, 89 percent admit there’s a member of their friendship group who acts like the “mum or dad” – looking out for everyone and making sure they get home safely.

The research was conducted by Malibu as part of its #GoodVibesOnly campaign, which teams up with TV stars Joey Essex and Olivia Attwood, spreading awareness of how young people can stay safe as they start university life. Malibu’s ethos is around Doing Whatever Tastes Good, living in the moment and enjoying life to its fullest, but at the same time feeling comfortable and being safe, whilst having fun.

Joey Essex says “There’s nothing more I enjoy than a night out with friends, and when Malibu came calling to ask Olivia and I to be part of its campaign, we jumped at the chance. It is so important for young people to stay safe as they enjoy nights out.”

On average, men take nearly an hour to get ready - 54 minutes - and young women can spend up to an hour and 22 minutes before heading out.

According to the survey, modern Brits enjoy five nights out a month on average, meaning they are out most weekends and for at least one cheeky night a week.

Meanwhile staying safe is a key priority for almost three quarters (73 percent) of the young Brits polled, with over a third (35 percent) admitting they’ve often felt unsafe while out.

In fact, nine in ten (91 percent) of the young women polled said they’d been made to feel vulnerable, with 35 percent admitting it’s happened many times.

Marnie Corrigan, Brand Director for Malibu Rum, which conducted the research said: " This year, we wanted to shine a light on how students can enjoy #GoodVibesOnly, as they start off their university lives. It’s interesting to note what resonates best with modern Brits and the elements that make up a great night – whether it’s a brand-new outfit, a great playlist, or knowing you have a safe ride home at the end of the night.

‘As the brand which encourages people to ‘Do Whatever Tastes Good’, we’re all about living life in a way that makes you happy. A key part of feeling good is undoubtedly keeping safe and feeling comfortable in what you’re doing. Our research showed us that nine in ten young women have felt vulnerable on a night out, which is staggering and something we really want to look to change. That’s why Malibu has launched this campaign - to give students the means to keep themselves, and others, safe, whilst still maximising the fun."
