Introducing Professor Akira – the smartest dog on the planet

Professor Akira is a Japanese Shibu Inu who is fast becoming known as the smartest dog in the world. He can recognize colours, everyday objects, and his math skills are equivalent to those of a five-year-old child. He can count to ten in both English and Japanese, do simple adding and subtracting and can also answer yes or no questions. Akira really is an incredibly smart cookie and is currently learning to play the piano!

Akira’s owner, Monica Elkhalifa, was looking for ways to tire him out as he had so much energy even after his walks. She embarked on a journey to mentally stimulate him and build his cognitive performance to see if that would do the trick - and it worked.

Monica is not a professional dog trainer, and nor does she have any formal qualifications in this area, but what she did have was an idea of how to brain train Akira. She developed a series of flashcards that form the basis of her bespoke canine brain training - now known as The Professor Akira Method - and with daily 10-minute sessions, Akira became smarter, happier and more engaged with Monica.

Monica, who lives with Akira in Abu Dhabi, believes that all dogs can benefit from cognitive stimulation and most enjoy brain training. She says: “As with the most effective learning journeys, Akira and I started slowly and worked at his pace. Some days he is keener to train than others, but our relationship and bond have deepened as a result and he is clearly a happier, more contented dog.”

In addition to purchasing a set of flashcards, dog owners will soon be able to enrol their dogs in the Professor Akira Academy for Clever Dogs, launching soon, where they will benefit from training programs, one-on-one sessions with Monica, rewards, training badges, and much more.

A set of 86 flashcards costs £20 and can be shipped globally. For more details or to register for the Academy go to https://www.professorakira.com.
