Disposable Green showcases their sustainable product range to Rt Hon Boris Johnson

Eco-friendly company Disposable Green, based in Ruislip, recently had a visit by Rt Hon Boris Johnson, MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to discuss its home compostable products and highlight how this range is an effective alternative to single-use plastic.

Disposable Green is a sustainable company that provides affordable products crafted out of earth-friendly alternatives, such as areca palm leaf, sugarcane bagasse, Unique NEXTGEN Coffee cups and takeaway range, all suitable for home composability.

Rt Hon Boris Johnson, spoke with founders Santosh Gandhi and Suman Gandhi at Disposable Green's offices and was astounded by the Areca Palm Leaf disposable tableware which the company manufactures.

Disposable Green's home compostable plates can be used in the oven, microwave, and refrigerator. Mr Johnson was surprised to hear how, upon usage, items are recycled back into nature within 60 days. The Gandhi partners also showed their unique leaf straws which last up to 8 hours without getting soggy.

The earth-friendly ethos of Disposable Green assured their approval of the Government's ban on single-use plastic straws in the UK in 2020. This event was part of an appeal to the Prime Minister to show how the company can honour the EU's directive to ban all single-use tableware and provide sustainable alternatives and convince that the UK should apply similar directions.

Mr Johnson appreciated the company's differing approach to market standards and applauded their research and innovations. To show his support, the Prime Minister agreed to work with Disposable Green on future initiatives and consider grants to expedite their work. Amongst these initiatives will be a call for a UK-wide single home composability standard.

This comes as Disposable Green continue to scale up its innovations with its NEXTGEN range. NEXTGEN single use coffee cup and takeaway range provides a clear solution for recyclability and composability without needing any additional processes. This includes disposable coffee cups, bowls and takeaway containers which are made with an proprietary aqueous coating.

This meeting concluded with a special rainforest card detailing a thank you, created by Avik Gandhi – the six-year-old son of Santosh and Suman – and given to Mr Johnson.
