New director appointments for DWP Digital

DWP Digital has appointed Jake Barlow as the new Director of Health and Disability & Benefit Supporting Services.

Previously the Director of GOV.UK at Government Digital Service, Jake brings with him a wealth of experience in using digital technology to make a difference to people’s lives.

In his new role, Jake will lead on the development of new and innovative health and disability benefits digital services, making them easier to navigate for claimants and delivering better value for money for taxpayers.

Jake said: “I feel incredibly lucky to joining a team that’s delivering such valuable work, improving the lives of millions of people. There’s nowhere else in government which offers the opportunity to do this on such scale. I can’t wait to get more involved.”

In addition, a new Chief Technology Officer position has been created to drive forward DWP Digital’s approach to building common reusable digital services. Craig Eblett, currently DWP Digital Director of Shared Platforms, has been appointed to the new CTO role. 

Craig said “I’m really thrilled to take up the role of Chief Technology Officer. It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring together the digital strategy and architecture activities, especially the Strategic Reference Architecture which is driving our department forward, in one place.”
