An ‘easy peasy’ way of making meals interesting, tasty and healthy
Easy Peasy Cooking, a Suffolk-based provider of recipe kits and seasonings, has pledged to make mealtime interesting, tasty and healthy with its ‘easy peasy’ cooking philosophy.
The new business got off to a flying start by catching the attention of Theo Paphitis from Dragon’s Den and winning a Small Business Award.
"It's been an interesting journey for us with a number of changes to the way we market ourselves. But our core values have remained consistent: to make mealtime interesting, tasty and healthy, by providing a range of products based around an 'Easy Peasy' to cook philosophy,” says Ian Bacon, Director of Easy Peasy Cooking.
With over 40 recipe kits to choose from, they cater for all kinds of dietary requirements. With the vegan boom taking hold of the UK food industries, Easy Peasy Cooking added Vegan options to its Inspiration Recipe Kits range in May. After only two months, these Vegan Inspiration Recipe kits are outselling all other product lines.
“Made from 100% natural ingredients, our recipe kit blends are gluten-free and have none of the bad stuff: no MSG, no additives, no preservatives,” adds Ian.
Initially, the company found success with people on weight management plans, such as Slimming World. The Inspiration Recipe kits would allow them to make delicious low calorie and low fat meals that the whole family could enjoy. Weight management becomes simple, as precise allergen and nutritional data is included for every meal. “In fact, over 80% of our 8,600 Instagram followers are members of Slimming World,” says Ian.
Product design has played a major role in the business. The fact that its boxes can fit through letterboxes makes it infinitely convenient for customers who’d rather not wait in for a delivery.
Ian explains, “This is one of the reasons we became so popular so quickly, which has in turn helped us give a boost to other local businesses like butchers, greengrocers and fishmongers.”
In September, Easy Peasy Cooking is opening a purpose-built facility in Yorkshire. They will employ 15 packers who will hand-pack 10,000 Inspiration Recipe kits a week for its retail sector clients.
