Race for a spot within the UK’s franchising elite now on

The Elite Franchise Top 100 (EF100) is a yearly league table, exhibiting the best that the UK’s franchising industry has to offer. An eclectic mix of brands from baby swimming to business coaching are now pitching themselves to be considered by a panel of respected judges for a spot as one of the UK’s elite franchise companies, as applications for the 2022 ranking are now open.

The EF100’s rigorous ranking system considers several aspects of businesses that apply for the accolade. Accounting for the size, growth, ambitions and contributions made to franchisees and the community, entries are officiated by an independent panel of industry professionals to ensure the results’ validity and credibility. The judging panel is made up of industry heavyweights including Andrew Brattesani from HSBC, the league table’s major sponsor.

The EF100 is now in its fifth year, with competition to become a part of the UK’s franchising elite growing every year. The current reigning champion of the EF100 is in-home senior care franchise Home Instead, who have now won the award an impressive three times. But Home Instead don’t use their pedigree in the ranking to be complacent in the competition or the delivery of their services.

Ruth Brown, Head of Business Development at Home Instead, said, “We were thrilled to be ranked No. 1 in the Top 100 for 2021. The entry process is rigorous with entrants’ franchise models measured against a wide range of criteria, so the rankings are based on a broad view of the business.

“We display the winner’s logo with pride as it speaks of the amazing business opportunity that we offer and how we make a real difference to the lives of our franchise owners and their teams and, of course, the clients who benefit from our amazing care model. Being ranked in the list certainly adds credibility to our brand. We would certainly urge franchisors to enter.”

According to the latest bfa NatWest franchise survey, franchising contributes £17.2 billion to the UK economy, and is growing faster than ever before. In the same survey, it was reported that 93% of franchisees claim profitability, with less than 1% of franchisors closing per year. Through careful judgement, the EF100 as well as regulatory bodies like the British Franchise Association set the standards for the 48,000-plus established franchise units, as well as new and emerging franchises across the UK.

Entries for the EF100 close on 30th September this year. Finalists will be announced on 6th December with the celebratory evening for the UK’s elite in franchising taking place in early 2022.
