Why Jo Swinson needs help in realising her Prime Ministerial dreams

Help is at hand for jo Swinson with the launch of a new book “Glossophobia - A Fear of Public Speaking” by Esther Stanhope, ex BBC producer turned expert confidence coach in public speaking.

Whilst Jo Swinson has the political momentum behind her, she still lacks the presentational authority to match up to her rivals, and suffers from the tell tail voice quiver that fuelled Theresa May's downfall.

With an election looming, and the prospect of the inevitable succeed or fail televised debates, the best investment of Ms Swinson's political career will be hitting the shelves on Wednesday evening, and according to author, Esther Stanhope, could boost her ratings by at least 42%.

'The pre-election debate involving Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg in April 2010, saw Nick Clegg win 61% of the ratings vote based purely on a hugely competent performance, yet with few policies,' says Esther Stanhope. 'Jo Swinson, has her flagship Brexit policy firmly in place, but needs to rise to the performance level that Nick Clegg achieved. With her current rating on 19%, if she does achieve that, history tells us that a 61% rating is within reach, with all that follows."

Whilst predictably Jo Swinson will claim that she is very comfortable on the public stage, Stanhope recognises the little signs of fear. 'My own career was in television production. I saw the pressures of live presentations daily, but only felt them when I found myself on the stage myself. The quiver in Jo Swinson's voice, the stiffness in the body language and the uneasiness in the smile show that beneath the imperative to lead, is the fear of public humiliation through poor performance.'

'She is far from alone, particularly being female facing up to older and more experienced male rivals, which is why 'Glossophobia, A Fear of Public Speaking' has been written, and why it should be compelling reading for her in the weeks leading up to the likely television debate challenges. I would be delighted to welcome her to the launch event on Wednesday at Shoreditch House,' offers Stanhope, ' and present her with a personal copy!'
