Tickle your taste buds with something different in World Food Week, urges Figbar Norwich

A Norwich dessert business is underlining the importance of sampling different dishes and cuisines ahead of World Food Week, which takes place from June 24–30.

Based in a modern premises on St John Maddermarket, Figbar Norwich serves a range of pastries, desserts, hot drinks and sweet treats, from egg custard tarts to some you may not have heard of, including Rocher, Indian summer and bergamia.

The menu is designed and created by executive pastry chef Jaime Garbutt, who has been running the business with wife Stephanie since 2016. Jaime’s background includes working with some huge names in cooking, from Marcus Wareing and Gordon Ramsay to Yotam Ottolenghi.

Figbar Norwich’s social initiatives include a monthly cookery book club, and donating a pound from every sale of one its puddings, Snickers, to a local food bank.

Stephanie says: “We’re thrilled to support this month’s World Food Week, which is about reawakening the taste buds, and perhaps making some more adventurous choices, whether that’s eating out or preparing yourself something at home. We think we’re a pretty good place to do that, with new dishes offered all the time, and a constantly changing menu.”

“Clearly the week is also an opportunity for us to showcase the best of what we do. We hope as many people as possible will feel able to get involved.”

World Food Week, which kicks off the summer, also offers information, advice and tips about the best international food to be found, whether you’re staying at home in the UK or jetting off abroad.
