UK’s Top Influencer to Sleep Rough After Awards Ceremony

Entrepreneurial Single Mum is Named Global Woman’s Top UK Influencer and Vows to Sleep Rough After the Global Woman Summit to Inspire Future Generations of Girls to Have #PurposeOverPouts

A combination of a fierce public vote and stringent judging panel saw Kent based mum of two, Fran Boorman, announced (on 27th May) as the UKs Top Influencer by Global Woman – an international organisation that empowers and recognises leaders of change across the globe.

Fran is not a typical ‘Influencer’ with a perfectly laid out Instagram account, instead she is recognised as creating influence through action; leading award-winning businesses with strong social purposes and representing women’s views in the media and Parliament.

On hearing of her initial nomination in April 2019 Fran shared how this symbolised a shift in what the public wants from influencers. “There is a real hunger for better role models for the younger generations of girls to follow; where purpose is more important than just pouty photos and product placements”, Fran says.

The #PurposeOverPouts concept generated significant public votes that saw Fran catapulted into the number one position for the UK. Fran has now been put forward to the Global final and the winner will be announced at the star-studded Global Woman Summit Gala Dinner, in London on the 13th July 2019. Sleeping Rough

True to the values that Fran promotes she has committed to sleeping rough directly after Global Woman Summit Gala Dinner, in order to raise awareness of homelessness and #PurposeOverPouts. Supporting the nationally acclaimed Street Soccer Foundation she will be joined by other business leaders who leave the glitzy awards dinner with just a sleeping bag to ‘sleepout’ at a local football ground.

Fran Says, “It is really important to use the amazing platform Global Woman have given me to create meaningful progress. I want to celebrate and shine a light on all the amazing women who are also creating their own positive influence and look forward to many of them joining me on the night as we raise the profile of how we can collectively better inspire change.”
