Goal 17 win Theo Paphitis #SBS Business Award and is Shortlisted to the Top 3 in the National Mentoring Awards

On Monday 11th February Kent based start-up, Goal 17, were announced to have won Theo Paphitis’ #SBS Business award. The founders, Fran Boorman from Tunbridge wells and Keith Mabbutt from Maidstone, were invited to meet Theo at an exclusive event the following day.

About Goal 17:

Goal 17 deliver an exciting and innovative mentor training programme to corporate clients. With staff retention and employee engagement being a primary concern in the current economy Goal 17’s flagship IMPACT programme is proving a genuine solution.

The company teaches mentoring skills by pairing corporate staff with homeless young people who are on a 10-week transformational academy with Goal 17’s charity partner, The Street Soccer Foundation. This revolutionary programme breaks down boundaries, shifts mindsets and helps everyone involved learn about themselves and how best to work with others.

The corporate clients take their new skills back into the work place to establish a mentoring culture throughout their organisation. The young people get the opportunity to genuinely turn their lives around and whilst all move into a progressive pathway (such as further education and training) some even get the opportunity to take up jobs with their corporate mentors and sponsors.

Awards:

Despite only launching in September 2018, Goal 17 is already receiving significant recognition for the impact it is making, delivering their programme to multi billion pound turnover clients.

Having had over 370,000 entrants into Theo Paphitis #SBS (Small Business Sunday) Business Awards since its inception 8 years ago, Goal 17 were honoured to be selected as one of the 6 winners. The founders were invited the very next day to meet Paphitis and be presented their award. They have been invited in to an exclusive community of business owners and received recognition from Paphitis on twitter.

Goal 17 has also been shortlisted down to one of the top three finalists at the coveted National Mentoring Awards and invited to the star-studded London awards ceremony on 1st March 2018. Their co-founder, Fran Boorman, is also up for two awards at the Kent Women in Business awards to be held on the 8th March 2018.

Quotes:

Co-founder of Goal 17, Fran Boorman says:

“We feel honoured to receive so much wonderful recognition at such and early stage in our business. Whilst the awards are lovely what really matters to us is the impact we are making on the lives of both our young people and corporate mentors. We are driven by a passion to break down boundaries and bring two very different sides of society together. For us, the biggest rewards is seeing the change our programmes create and the many different people that we are able to effect.”
