Surtees F1 car to join the Masters of Motoring in 60th anniversary celebrations

The upcoming Masters of Motoring 2024 festival, held in Wiltshire and presented by Footman James, has been steadily progressing throughout the Winter season. As Spring has arrived, exciting updates have been revealed as we eagerly count down to the event on June 1st and 2nd.

In 2024, we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of John Surtees' historic win in the F1 World Championship, solidifying his status as the first and only person to hold both F1 and Motorbike World Champion titles. Surtees, who later became a respected race car constructor, will be honored at Masters with the appearance of one of his iconic TS9 F1 car. This particular model, driven by Derek Bell at the 1971 British Grand Prix, was also raced by Mike Hailwood and Surtees himself throughout the season. Notably, Hailwood achieved a fourth place finish in the Italian Grand Prix while Surtees drove to victory at Oulton Park Gold Cup F1 Race for a second consecutive year.

Aside from F1 cars, the Masters is shaping up and you can expect to see rare examples of NASCARs at the Masters event. Among them will be an original 2010 RCR Chevy Silverado truck, specially crafted by renowned Richard Childress Racing. This truck was driven in the Camping World Truck series back in 2010 by the dynamic duo of Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon.

Sporting Bears, the prestigious motoring charity, will also join in the festivities at Masters of Motoring. Offering exciting rides at Castle Combe Action Day, visitors can choose from a wide selection of vehicles, such as supercars, police cars and classics. With at least 15 cars available on Saturday, it's sure to be an unforgettable experience and a great opportunity to see and experience a rare collection of cars all in one place.

Taking the action to nearby Bowood House & Gardens on the Sunday 2nd June, these rare beasts will sit on the lawns of the house giving everyone the chance to see them up close and with traders and guests in the VIP zone, it is set to be a weekend to enjoy for everyone.
