Greater Change launches 2020 Christmas Campaign

The UK is facing a homelessness crisis, and the COVID-19 outbreak has only made things worse. Many people are facing Christmas on the streets or in unstable temporary accommodation. In an effort to improve the situation, Greater Change is launching its 2020 Christmas Campaign.

The organisation was formed in April 2018 and has already rescued 130 people from homelessness. Greater Change allows donors to give directly to the goals of specific beneficiaries. The new campaign aims to raise £20,000, enough to help a further 25 people out of homelessness this winter. Beneficiary and Partnerships Liaison of Greater Change, Mary Parsons, explains why the campaign is so important:

The new campaign aims to raise £20,000, enough to help a further 25 people out of homelessness this winter. Beneficiary and Partnerships Liaison of Greater Change, Mary Parsons, explains why the campaign is so important:

"People don’t understand the struggle on the streets. They just see the sleeping bag or sign asking for spare change. Please, please help us save a life this Christmas. It could even help a family get back in contact for this holiday season."

Greater Change is kickstarting its campaign with The Greater Change Festive Warm Up. The free online event will be held on 1st December from 5.30-6.30pm. Christmas jumpers are encouraged and there will be fun activities and prizes to be won. Tickets can be reserved here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-greater-change-festive-warm-up-tickets-129659110891.

For those wishing to help, there are a number of ways to get involved:

- Donate directly at www.greaterchange.co.uk

- Donate in the name of a family member or friend as a Christmas gift

- Donate instead of sending Christmas cards

- Share the campaign on social media to raise awareness

- Help to change the perception of homelessness by booking a ' https://www.greaterchange.co.uk/corporate-social-responsibility Lunch and Learn' session at work.

As Greater Change founder Alex McCallion says, the campaign is a chance to end a tough year on a positive note:

"This year has been a very hard one for people. We would love our community to be able to finish the year by helping bring huge positivity to 25 people's lives. I am in no doubt that this campaign will save lives. If you are in a position where you are able to give, please support our campaign."
