Issued on Behalf of Haslemere Museum

Full Steam Ahead with a Full Team of Staff

Everyone at Haslemere Museum is delighted to welcome two new members of staff to the team and looking forward to working side by side in providing the town and beyond with its award winning service.

Whilst the Museum has been closed to the public during lockdown, a myriad of work has been taking place behind the scenes to ensure that the Museum will be ready to welcome the public back on 17th May. The recent appointments of two new permanent team members puts the Museum in an even stronger position to hit the ground running. The staff and volunteers are gearing up to deliver a full programme of events and exhibitions, exploring new possibilities to attract visitors and members, and also working to continue the intrinsic tasks of preserving and developing the collections for public benefit.

In the role of Assitant Curator, supporting the Curator and Collections team, Rhiannon Jones joins us from Horsham Museum & Art Gallery in West Sussex. She has previously worked at the National Science & Media Museum in Bradford, as well as museums in Devon and Worcestershire. Rhiannon has a BA (hons) in Archaeology and Masters degrees in Medieval Studies and Museum Studies. She is delighted to be joining the team and is looking forward to exploring the collections and getting to know the museum’s wonderful team of volunteers.

In the role of Office Manager, Jo-Anne Buckrell, has joined us from the National Trust, where she worked with the local Ranger Team whilst completing her second Masters degree, this one in Decorative Arts and Historic Interiors. Prior to that Jo-Anne worked in the legal and business world and is delighted to have joined the staff after some years of volunteering with the Museum. Jo-Anne may be a familiar face to many Haslemere residents as she is also Front-of-House Manager at Haslemere Hall. She is really looking forward to meeting the visitors and users here at the Museum and working to ensure that everything runs smoothly!
