Charity supporting survivors of modern slavery ask you to share the warmth this Christmas

Anti-trafficking charity City Hearts are asking you to give the gift of warmth this Christmas, by donating hats, scarves and gloves to the men and women in their safehouse accommodation.

As the festive season approaches, families will be looking forward to spending time together and wrapping up to enjoy the crisp winter weather, but it's another story for victims of trafficking. As temperatures fall, many are rescued with just the clothes they stand in, and once brought to the City Hearts' safehouses, are in need of hats, scarves and gloves to keep warm.

City Hearts, which has its headquarters in Sheffield, supports survivors of modern slavery across the UK, providing safehouse accommodation and long-term support.

The charity currently supports around 700 men, women and children. For many of their clients, this is the first Christmas they have felt safe and loved in a long time. They have suffered terrible exploitation and though they have been rescued, many are left with physical and psychological scars, and are often spending their Christmas away from family and loved ones, which can leave them feeling isolated.

Lydia Beck, Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator at City Hearts, said “For the majority of clients in our safehouses, this is their first Christmas free from exploitation. We do everything we can to ensure it is special and full of love, and this year we want to make it extra cosy. We’re asking for items that will bring comfort and warmth to our clients and help us to create new memories with them, whilst being practical throughout the winter.”

City Hearts’ South Yorkshire team are asking for donations of new hats, scarves and gloves, which can be posted to, or dropped at the following address:
