Global dance duo to appear at Cumbria’s biggest one-day dance festival

A DANCE music duo who have wowed crowds at some of the world’s best-loved clubs and festivals are preparing to set a music festival alight with their unique beats.

Jet-setting twosome, The Showhawk Duo, land in Ulverston this weekend and are set to be one of the main attractions at Sunshine Groove.

The one-day dance festival has become a fixture in the calendar of The Sun Inn, and attracted thousands of people last year across 14 hours of live music.

Now it is set to return on Saturday across four stages with a packed line-up of talent ready to hit the decks.

The day will be doubly special for Scott Mackenzie of Lakeland Inns, as it will mark the end of a year of abstinence from alcohol; something he has done to raise money for the premature baby charity, Bliss.

Sam Scott is manager of The Sun. He said: “This year we have gone all out with the talent and I can promise anyone who comes down to the festival that whatever the time of day, there will be plenty going on.

“The Showhawk Duo are a great signing for us; they are global stars so to get them to Ulverston is pretty special.

“There’s so much talent over the course of the day and night, from local DJs who are making it big across the UK, to very established outfits like Monster Monster who have been ripping up the scene for years.

“This is one of the biggest events we have over the course of the year and with sun forecast for the weekend, we are expecting our four stages across the pub and outdoor area to be busy.”

Four stages; The Potting Shed, the Disco Stage, the Hideout and The Basement will play host to the various DJs and performers, of which there are more than 20.

Among the talent will be home-grown performers, including Strike One, who recently featured in Zone Magazine as one to watch, Homegrown DJ and the South Lakes Rock School.

The weather is forecast to be sunny with occasional cloud - meaning the outdoor stages are likely to be packed as crowds enjoy the last of the summer sun.

Scott said: “This has been months in the making and with the big day just around the corner, we are fired up and ready to go.

“Ales from our brewery, Stringers, are amazing right now and we have recently taken on a selection of canned IPAs with a twist. So along with all of our usual offerings, there is set to be something for everyone.”

The festival runs from noon until 2.30am. Visit The Sun’s social media pages for more information.
