New 'tree room' venue enjoys sell out launch success

A NEW hospitality destination has been declared a sell-out success after opening its doors for the first time this weekend.

Room 1780, at The Sun Inn, in Ulverston, welcomed guests on Sunday following a £50,000 scheme to refurbish the second floor of the popular town centre pub.

Kirsty MacKenzie, managing director of Lakeland Inns, which runs The Sun, said she had been delighted to see people enjoying themselves following months of work to bring the ambitious project to fruition.

“Our opening afternoon in Room 1780 was a sell out,” she added.

“The atmosphere was fantastic and the feedback from guests was really good.

“Seeing it brought to life with people enjoying quality time, good food and a drink with friends and family made all the hard work worthwhile.”

Room 1780 was named in a nod to the year The Sun, in Market Street, was built.

It features a stunning, handcrafted timber wall made up of circular tree trunks, branches and twigs.

It will be used as a function space, private dining venue and as an exclusive pre-book only arena for sporting events.

It will also bring five new jobs to the town.

Kirsty added: “The launch of Room 1780 was for Sunday’s Manchester United V Chelsea match which was a great event.

“The room offers something different to the other parts of The Sun so we were all thrilled to see it filled with people, just as we had always hoped.”
