Edinburgh Tech Entrepreneur in the Final for Entrepreneur of the year award

Edinburgh based Entrepreneur Grant MacCusker founder / CEO of prop-tech start-up Letting Cloud has been shortlisted to the final four of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards 2020. Letting Cloud was a small light bulb idea in 2013 that had big potential. After a successful exit from his letting agency in 2015 Grant tried various industries before coming back to the idea of a Letting Cloud as the gap was still there to change the way properties were advertised and managed on a portal. After much planning the idea went into development stage in early 2018 and has excitingly launched nationwide in January 2020. Grant reflects on the property market and how his business has managed during the world pandemic. He say's "Coronavirus arrived and the property market just shut overnight. We created a plan to deal with this situation for our agents and landlords that advertise on our site. We decided that the company was best to take a short term hit for the long term gain. We offered any new customer free advertising until October and we cancelled all payments for our paying customers until then as well. We believe as a business that this was the correct action to take as no one knew at that time how the market was going to shape up or if agents were going to get out this in one piece. The team and I worked tirelessly over the pandemic from home to re-brand the business, create a new website and help our customers in a time of need. These actions have paid dividends for us and it helps us to grow and achieve our company goal. To be shortlisted to the final 4 for this award is a great achievement for myself but also for the business, there is no I in Team and awards like this prove that. We have been shortlisted against some great businesses and two of the businesses in my category i know so it makes it a bit more competitive". With Letting Cloud aiming to dominate the UK Letting advertising market we can see a tech giant on the rise.

Founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said: “Given what we’ve seen over the past few months, the 2020 edition of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards is arguably the most important. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that we celebrate the achievements of the country’s entrepreneurs and their determination in the face of such adversity.

“So many entrepreneurs will have been fighting to keep their business afloat over the past few months, and indeed will be over the coming months. That’s exactly why we launched the Pivot category; to recognise those that have managed to adapt and thrive throughout this period.

“I want to send my congratulations to each and every single entrepreneur who has made it to the shortlist this year, and I wish them the very best of luck for the regional finals.”
