Luis Carranza: What's next for Fintech Week?

In March 2014, the first ever Fintech Week swept through London. Multiple venues and hundreds of speakers came together for the festivities. Now that the dust has settled, we caught up with the father of Fintech Week, Luis Carranza, who outlined his plans for 2015.

“I want to capture the energy of the fintech community on a larger scale”

- Luis Carranza, Founder of Fintech Week.

Something that impressed Luis was the collaboration between the corporate and startup sectors. Luis told us that “Fintech Week exceeded my expectations. We had startups, investors and large corporations in the same room, all excited about the same thing.”

Luis was also pleased to get startup rockstars on the same stage as financial and insurance experts. “There is so much disruption happening in the space. Con Keating of Brighton Rock, the payments expert Roy Vella and Yoni Assia of eToro were some of my favourites.” This ambition chimes with us as Level39 – great work can be done when you put innovative startups and experience players in the same room.

What many people don’t know is that Luis organised the 10 day phenomenon on his own. We’re still trying to work out whether that makes him a superhero, or the right kind of crazy… “I thought: “what have you gotten yourself into” I was audacious to think I could run a 10 day conference on my own. In 2015 I’d like to get a bit more help, and capture the energy of the fintech community on a larger scale.”
