Language Business Scoops Top Business Award

This month Elena Calavia, owner of Lingotot Drogheda and East Meath, beat the competition at the Network Ireland Louth Business Awards to scope the Emerging Business Award for 2023.

Elena was recognised by Network Ireland for her dedication, ambition, and ability to grow despite recent challenges in the market. Network Ireland is a not for profit national organisation for women in business, the professions and the arts, with over 15 branches throughout Ireland, formed nationally over 30 years ago in 1983. It encourages women to achieve more satisfying careers and promotes women as worthy contributors to the Irish economy. Several other inspirational female business leaders were nominated for the award, but Elena shone above every other finalist in the judges’ eyes.

The judges said, “Elena has a deep understanding of her sector and the real impact it can make on its target audience. A very engaging and inspiring business leader, Elena has a clear vision of how the business can be scaled and a great understanding of franchising.”

Elena has ploughed through the challenges of extended covid closure across Ireland and has throughout focused on looking at the bigger picture, anticipating and seizing opportunities with both hands whenever they arose.

Sofia Colàs of Lingotot Ireland said, “She is the queen of networking, creating community around language learning with all stakeholders - parents, schools , Boards of Management, children alike. On a personal note , Elena brings so much to my table and I feel very lucky to have her as a Lingotot colleague.”

Elena said, “I am overwhelmed! Without the unwavering support from my family, I would not have had the courage of starting a business during the pandemic, to do something I absolutely adore. There are infinite possibilities for them by learning other languages and about other cultures.”
