LIONS TIGERS AND BEARS – A fresh look at dealing with cancer
Having been diagnosed with cancer soon after her 40th birthday, cancer survivor Emma Kennedy has started a new website, guiding people who have or have had cancer through and beyond treatment.
Throughout her treatment, Emma noticed a large void in the information available to people with cancer. It seemed there was a lack of information for what most of us would deem ‘the simple things’. Emma recalls information and products being available, but the scattered nature required hours of searching.
Emma decided to create a simple and supportive website, which gave cancer sufferers and their families everything they need in one place.
It also seemed other websites had a “patienty” medical feel to them. Emma felt a site was needed which gave a positive shopping experience and where a customer could feel they were still buying ‘nice things’.
Emma says “Throughout it all, I struggled to find the products that I wanted or needed - So much seemed to be designed for a much older woman with a different style aesthetic and/or stuffed with the toxic chemicals I was working hard to eradicate from my life. So, I bought the domain and started the site one night in a steroid and frustration induced post-chemo haze, with the aim of building the kind of site that I was looking for and couldn't find, to support me through my treatment. I also wanted a space where loved ones could find
suitable and appropriate gifts for relatives suffering with cancer, to show they care.”
