Litter-free glitter brand marks World Environment Day

Norwich-based collective No-Litter Eco-Glitter, producers of LOOMI Glitter, is celebrating tomorrow’s World Environment Day, urging others to do the same.

Owner James Allen said: “This is an ideal occasion to think about the planet, and the impact your shopping choices, in particular, may have on it. It’s also a great time to celebrate the work that is going on in the areas of climate change and sustainability.

“After all, the glitter we make is often used at times of celebration.”

The issues championed by World Environment Day are very close to LOOMI’s heart, including sustainability, human rights and animal welfare.

Allen adds: “We’re passionate about active campaigning, and aim to grow using further collaboration. We’d urge everyone to do one small thing for World Environment Day, whether that’s an eco-friendly journey or purchase.”

The brand’s glitter comes in a biodegradable pot, and is made from materials which can be recycled. It’s possible to store it indefinitely, as no light gets in to the damage the glitter, while the pot can also be reused before it is recycled.

At the same time, the glitter contains no animal products, nor is it ever tested on them. The product is made from plant cellulose, which quickly returns to the ecosystem, and it can also be placed in a home compost system after use.

World Environment Day is marked on the same day each year and is the UN’s main way of encouraging awareness and actions which protect the planet. It first took place in 1974.
