Subscription service giving small firms the edge

A British company has come up with a hands-on way of supporting small business and charities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Online firm Loving Small Business gives small companies the edge by helping them build a practical and dynamic profile in today’s crowded marketplace.

Instead of organisations posting advertisements and hoping for the best, they can now have their products placed directly in the hands of potential customers.

Subscribers receive a box of items from a range of small businesses each month, from artisan chocolate to natural beauty products and many other goodies in between.

Loving Small Business founder Holly McCarthy saw that smaller companies were fighting for online space in the growing virtual marketplace and came up with a novel way of putting products in front of people.

Holly said: “We feel so privileged to be able to support businesses and charities across the UK and be in a position to put their products in consumers' hands, particularly in these challenging times.

“It is so exciting to discover amazing small businesses and I genuinely get so excited each time we send out a new box."

The top-quality products are handpicked and tested before being packed up and sent to customers. Subscribers can then physically try out these products which often results in new sales.

Recognising that small charities are also being hit hard, Loving Small Business is donating 10 per cent of profits to different UK-based organisations.

Subscribers receive a themed mystery box each month before the products go on display in the Loving Small Business online shop.

Luxury box subscriber Kirsty said: “I loved receiving my luxury box, everything inside was a real treat.

“It's like being small again and opening Christmas presents. All the contents were presented beautifully, and everything can be recycled too."

About Loving Small Business

My name is Holly and I am the founder of Loving Small Business. We started in May as an Instagram platform to champion small business and charities. I quickly learned that this wasn't enough and more needed to be done. This is when I came up with the idea for a subscription box that enables us to put small business products in consumers hands and also support small charities, who are struggling just as much, along the way. We see ourselves as partnering with a business rather than being an exchange, we want to form a relationship and build a network which can support each other and use this community to see how we can further help and support and build Loving Small Business around the needs rather than our own ambitions.
