Hat-trick of new client wins for Yorkshire PR agency

A fast-growing PR agency is celebrating three new client wins from across Yorkshire.

The new wins for Leeds-based MacComms include well-being, education and entertainment and are Leeds-based businesses Camp Xplode, Tougher Minds and Victoria Gate Casino.

Victoria Gate Casino, the super casino of the north, commissioned MacComms to organise a PR stunt promoting its Festival of Football ahead of showcasing the World Cup matches on the largest TV screen in Leeds at its in-house Live Bar.

On Thursday 7th June, MacComms successfully executed a speed cage competition on Briggate, Leeds city centre, inviting members of the public and corporate teams to battle it out to shoot the fastest football.

MacComms has also been appointed to promote Tougher Minds; an award-winning consultancy that helps people to improve resilience, well-being and personal performance.

Founded by psychology expert Dr. Jon Finn, Tougher Minds’ have recently opened a new office in central Leeds. Their programmes use the latest neuroscience insights and have been recognised for their effectiveness. The MacComms team has been tasked with media relations for Tougher Minds' inaugural Leeds event, which focuses on effective team development and is for leaders in business and education. It takes place in the Parkinson Suite of No1 Leeds on Thursday 21st June.

Camp Xplode day camps have been part and parcel of the school holidays across Leeds for the past four years. MacComms has been appointed to promote the work it does in providing children and young adults with the very best multi-activity day camp experience possible. In addition, the agency will promote the founder of the business, Nicholas Coulson, who will take on a 16-week sport challenge this summer.

Managing director Ellie comments:

“I’m really proud that MacComms has proven itself as a reputable company to help promote and manage the public and media relations of increasingly more impressive firms and the entrepreneurs behind them.

“Following our first successful stunt for Victoria Gate Casino’s first birthday party earlier this year, it was a pleasure to return to help them capitalise on the excitement which the World Cup brings.

I am Leeds-born and bred and think Leeds truly is a great place to live and work and we look forward to growing and supporting even more local businesses in the future.”

Hayley Smith, marketing manager at Victoria Gate Casino added:

“MacComms has delivered a second successful event for Victoria Gate Casino which saw us kick-off the football celebrations in Leeds, ahead of the World Cup. With the largest screen in the city, MacComms helped us to shout about that and engage and encourage local businesses and the public to enjoy the tournament in style in Live Bar.”

MacComms has a history of success, growing year-on-year and exceeding a turnover of £100,000 in 2017. The team is passionate about raising the profile of businesses in Yorkshire and recently expanded, recruiting Chris Rabbit as sales director and Sophie Nightingale as digital PR executive.

The firm is also recruiting for more entrepreneurial thinkers to support its ongoing growth. MacComms is holding ‘Independent’s Day’, a recruitment open day on Wednesday 4 July where people can attend and find out more about working at the independent firm.
