Meet MAMOQ: The online marketplace creating the future of style by changing perceptions of sustainable fashion

• Sustainable fashion marketplace MAMOQ is on a mission to transform the fashion industry for the better.

• They’re changing the perception that sustainable fashion is only for the eco-warrior or a compromise on style.

• They have released “The MAMOQ Movement”, to create a community of fashion-conscious consumers who care about the impact of their purchases and want to create a greener, more positive fashion industry.

The fight against climate change is real. Last week millions around the world walked out of schools and offices to call on their governments to take action on global warming. Extinction Rebellion called for a boycott of London Fashion Week. It’s clear the public wants change, but we need more than talk, we need action, we need a movement to solve this crisis.

Sustainable fashion marketplace MAMOQ is on a mission to take action against one of the biggest climate offenders – fashion. Every year the industry produces 1.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions; more than all international flights and shipping trips combined. While every minute in the UK we throw away the equivalent of 4,380 T-shirts. There needs to be a change and MAMOQ is leading it.

“We need to wake up to the fact that the status quo of the fashion industry is wreaking havoc on our planet and its people. Just as we care about our personal meat or plastic consumption, we also need to care about the impact of our wardrobe choices. By choosing sustainably and ethically produced fashion we can still express ourselves through style, without wearing stories of oppression and pollution” says CEO, Madeline Petrow.

Until now sustainable fashion has often been a dirty phrase. Looked at as being exclusively reserved for the mega-rich or so bland it’s a sacrifice on style. But change is on the horizon.

“At MAMOQ our aim is to create a space that caters to a wide audience of both men and women, with different styles and budgets. By bringing together over 100 independent labels in one home, we are able to offer a curated yet diverse selection of sustainable, style-forward fashion.“

And it’s working. Their customer base continues to grow and broaden with styles ranging from minimalist wardrobe essentials to bold statement pieces. Meghan Markle was even recently spotted wearing a dress from their Mayamiko collection.

Now they’re launching ‘The MAMOQ Movement’, a community for the fashion and future conscious, a place where ethics and sustainability matter as much as style and design. Members of The MAMOQ Movement gain rewards for their positive purchases and for spreading the message of sustainability.

MAMOQ wants to see a world where we no longer need to talk about "sustainable fashion" but instead, it’s just "fashion". They want you to join The MAMOQ Movement and create the future of style.

To kickstart your sustainable fashion journey, everyone who joins The MAMOQ Movement before October 31st will receive £10 credit.
