Luxury Jamaican food and drink brand wins THREE coveted Great Taste Awards for 2021

Marshall and Brown has been awarded three Great Taste awards for its luxury Jamaican food and drink products. The accolade sees the brand receive the prize for the second year in a row.

This year, three of the brand’s exquisite products were bestowed with the coveted award.

* Marshall and Brown Blue Mountain Coffee was described by Great Taste judges as “chocolatey with a light smoky finish that is pleasant and has plenty of body”. It was given a one-star award.

* The Marshall and Brown Beetroot and Orange chutney also claimed a one-star award, with the judges complimenting it as “a symphony of flavours” with “aromas of earthy sweetness that make the mouth water”.

Finally, the Marshall and Brown Vegan Rum Truffles won a one-star award and were applauded by the judge as a “marvel” of a vegan product.

Founder of Marshall and Brown, Dr Carlton Brown, said he was over the moon to receive the respected award two years in a row. “We are absolutely delighted to win the respected Great Taste awards for the second year in a row - and for two more of our luxury products!

Marshall and Brown: The inspiration behind Marshall and Brown came from founder Dr Carlton Brown’s mother and his mother-in-law. The company is named after these two wonderful and much missed matriarchs – Olive Brown and Eugenia Marshall – who were both born on the beautiful island of Jamaica.

Dr Carlton grew up around food, family, friends, music, fun and the rich heritage of Jamaican culture. Whilst on holiday in Jamaica four years ago, he began thinking about his heritage and how he could pay homage to both his mother and mother-in-law.

The common thread was food – Jamaica is a hotbed of interesting and wonderful flavours and spices, with a rich and diverse heritage. One of the most famous traditions within Jamaica is to jerk, and as both his mother and mother-in-law were passionate cooks, it became the obvious choice that he wanted to bring something contemporary to the market.

The company is named after these two wonderful matriarchs – Olive Brown and Eugenia Marshall – who were both born on the beautiful island of Jamaica. They were both amazing cooks and on Sundays, one of their family traditions was to have a dish that had been marinated or seasoned with Jerk seasoning.
