Mazuma joins forces with platform where event freelancers find their perfect work match

The UK’s leading online accountancy firm for small and micro businesses is partnering with a ground-breaking global platform matching up freelancers and event production agencies across the world. Bridgend-based Mazuma is joining forces with Connektd, which now has members in the UK, the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, China, and Dubai.

Launched in 2018 as a community platform for freelancers, Connektd has grown and developed in the UK. It has a number of key agency clients on board and a rapidly growing audience of freelancers.

As several global agencies add offices in markets outside the UK, Connektd is becoming the platform to match trusted freelancers to event projects around the world.

Flying long distances for work is becoming more difficult and more expensive, so sourcing trusted freelancers in the market where the event is being held offers huge benefits. This saves on flight costs and accommodation with the added advantage of being able to tap into local knowledge and networks.

Mazuma co-founder Lucy Cohen said: “We were chosen to partner with Connekted as an experienced company which could offer valuable information and advice to their freelancers.

“We work directly with freelancers and have seen first-hand that it’s far from easy. We understand the challenges they face in sourcing work and creating a good cash flow. So, we fly the flag for them with our #freelancersfirst campaign and are delighted to have been chosen to join forces with Connektd in this way.

“It’s a difficult time for freelancers because of the coronavirus crisis, so getting the best financial advice is vital right now.

“As the events industry re-opens across the world, there will also be huge opportunities for many freelancers.

“This is the perfect time to get their finances and accounting practices in order to meet those future challenges.”

Connektd was created by Steve Squires, an experienced events producer and operations consultant who has worked around the world.

He has worked and for agencies and brands throughout the UK, both as a freelancer and in full-time roles.

He said: "I wanted to replicate the way the agency and freelancer relationship works in the real world. The freelance community is very strong, and I believe it is important for it to have a meaningful online presence."

How does Connektd work?

Connektd does not charge commissions to meet and work with freelancers.

Freelance membership is free, while companies pay a monthly subscription. Connektd freelance members can apply for roles posted by companies, get their profile and news in front of the best agencies in the industry, and build relationships with existing clients.

Connektd “company” members can build stronger relationships with the freelancers they already know and meet others with appropriate skills and experience.

Each freelance community is owned by the organisation, not by an individual, and working history with the organisation can be shared with the team, giving important business continuity benefits.
